RESIDENCY PROGRAMS

Family Medicine Curriculum

The Family Medicine Residency Program is a six-residents-per-year program that offers residents an excellent education in traditional family medicine. Our innovative program is the ideal educational experience for those seeking to serve their patients and community in the practice of family medicine.

First-class programming and rotational experiences combine into a curriculum that covers the full spectrum of family medicine in a practical way to prepare for future practice and board exams. We are proud to train superb family physicians who are dedicated to the communities and patients they serve.

At Sovah, it's possible to tailor your Family Medicine curriculum to your future plans and interests!

Primary Care: Our program offers an extensive primary care experience, first and foremost. For residents interested in focusing on outpatient primary care, multiple electives each year allow for rotations with FM physicians and specialists alike.

Geriatrics: Longitudinal continuity with patients at a local skilled nursing facility provides training in caring for an older population.

FM Emergency Medicine: Our residents work closely with emergency medicine physicians and have the opportunity for multiple emergency medicine electives throughout all three years. ER attendings allow residents to participate in various procedures.

FM Women's Health: Our program offers one-on-one learning with FM/Obstetrics faculty in both inpatient and outpatient settings and engage with patients during women's health visits, office procedures, prenatal care, vaginal and cesarean deliveries, and postpartum care.

FM Inpatient Medicine: Our program includes a robust exposure to inpatient services with hospitalists and ICU faculty who are passionate about patient care, quality measures, and teaching. Residents interested in an inpatient medicine career may select electives in this area and work with many specialties to refine their skills of treating acutely ill patients.

Pediatrics: Residents are exposed to a variety of pediatric settings: community-based PEDS, inpatient PEDS (out rotation), and NICU/Newborn Nursery (out rotation)

Recent procedure workshops:

  • Sutures
  • Toenail Removal
